Trip to Dharamshala and Kangra, Himachal Pradesh
Trip to Dharamshala and Kangra: I decided to go to Dharamshala from Mcleodganj on the second day of my trip (First day I spent at Dharamshala, click the link to read my Trip to Mcleodganj. I walked to Mcleod Ganj bus depot from my hotel in Bhagsunag and then I got a public transport bus from the bus depot to Dharamshala, after getting down in Dharamshala, Kotwali Bazar, I decided to take breakfast first of all, so I found one hotel where I ordered Alu Paratha and curd. After having the breakfast I went to Dharamshala Cricket stadium, it is really the most beautiful cricket stadium I have ever seen.
After coming out of the stadium, I came to the bus stop and I was in dilemma where to go now in Dharamshala, Meanwhile one bus came to the stop which was looking like a truck, I ignored it for few seconds as I thought it’s a truck but after few seconds I saw people getting into this, then I realized it’s a bus, I saw the name plate on it and I found that the bus is going to Kangra, as I had the plan to visit Kangra as well so I caught the bus and went to Kangra city.
From Kangra city, I took an auto to Kangra Fort. It took 10-15 minutes to reach Kangra fort from Kangra Bus depot in the auto. After reaching Kangra Fort I took the ticket and went inside the fort. The Kangra fort is the major tourist attraction in Kangra. I spent around one hour in the fort taking some pictures of the fort. After coming out of the fort I went to Brajeshwari Devi temple, which is one of the Shakti Peeth, I took the blessings of Mata Brajeshwari, spent some time in the temple, took some photos and then I came out of the temple. It was around 2 o’clock when I started feeling hungry so I started searching for a good hotel, I found one where I ordered plain rice and Dal Fry. After having my lunch I took one cone vanilla ice cream and then I took the bus for Dharamshala, when I entered into the bus I saw people staring at me, might be because of my dress up.
I was wearing shorts, hat, goggles on the hat, shoulder bag kept front, Himachal tour guide book in the hand and eating the ice cream. It took 40 minutes to reach Dharamshala from Kangra in the bus. After getting down in Dharamshala, I took Bus for Sidhbari from Dharamshala bus depot, Sidhbari is 9 km away from Dharamshala, so it took 20 minutes to reach there by bus. After reaching Sidhbari, I asked somebody, how to go to Tapovan? I got the answer, just keep walking straight, you will find the place. He was right, I kept on walking and finally, I got to see Tapovan. On the way to Tapovan, I also found Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, as Dharamshala is the winter capital of Himachal that’s why Vidhan Sabha is in Dharamshala as well.
I took a couple of pictures of Vidhan Sabha which is amazingly beautiful, I wanted to go inside to spend some time there but I was not allowed to go. After taking a couple of pictures I was on the way to Tapovan, just after five minutes of walk from Vidhan Sabha I was in Tapovan. After entering into Tapovan, I found it same what I read about it, very silent, very beautiful and a perfect place for meditation. There is a temple inside it, I went into the temple, sat for 10 minutes, did meditation and then came out of the temple. The photography is not allowed in the temple premises so I took few pictures from outside the temple. Very next to the temple, I found one giant statue of Lord Hanuman and a giant Shiv Ling. I took a couple of pictures of Lord Hanuman, by then it was around 6 o’clock and it started raining as well. I opened the umbrella and found a shelter in the nearest tea shop. I ordered a cup of tea and after taking the tea, I started my walk to Shidhbari in the rain itself. After reaching Sidhbari, I didn’t need to wait for the bus as the bus came so soon. After thirty minutes of sitting on the bus, I was in Dharamshala once again for the last time during this trip as I had to take the bus to Delhi at 8 PM.
My bus to Delhi came at 8:20 in the night at Bharat Petrol Pump in Dharamshala, near Dharamshala bus depot, meanwhile I spent some time in café coffee day. What I ordered there, I forgot but it was something made of egg. I spent around one hour in the CCD and then I came out and found my Bus standing outside waiting for me.
I entered in the bus, found my seat, took out the headphone, kept the bag up, played the music and I was on the way to New Delhi.
Wish you a nice trip to Dharamshala and Kangra.
