Places to visit in Wayanad:-
Soochipara falls:
Also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls is sounded by montane and evergreen forest, it is a 15-20 minutes’ drive from Meppadi to Sentinel rock waterfalls and offers a stunning view of Wayanad’s tea estates. The waterfall is 200 meters and has a cliff face which is used for rock climbing.
Note: Once you reach the parking area, you have to pass through a security check at the entrance where they will make sure that you don’t carry any plastic.
Banasura Sagar Dam:
Banasura Sagar dam which is a popular tourist destination for tourists, many people visit the place to get a taste of trekking at the Banasura hills and speed boating at Banasura Sagar dam, speed, and pedal boats are available and are a major hit with tourists. Speedboat ride is a euphoric experience and must not be missed.
Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary:
Wayanad has a wildlife sanctuary which extends from 344.44 Km2 with four ranges. Being the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala, it has a lot to offer to its visitors. It is a home to a variety of large wild animals namely elephant, tiger, bison and deer, it also has unusual birds like peafowl which is very common in the area. One can be charmed by witnessing the beauty of it, it’s a home to some endangered species of both fauna and flora.
Edakkal Caves:
these are two natural caves at a remote location at Eddakal which is 25 Kms from Kalpetta in the Wayanad district. They are near an ancient trade route which connects the high mountains of Mysore to the ports of Malabar coasts. These caves take you back to the ancient civilization with their pictorial writings which are believed to at least 6,000 BCE. One can only immerse themselves into the stone age while visiting these magnificent caves with its ancient carvings of human and animal figures.
Thirunelli Temple:
An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu on the side of Brahmagiri hill in Kerala. This beautiful temple can be reached by driving through three wildlife sanctuaries and offers a unique experience to its visitors. Visit this temple and submerge into the divinity of this temple, the temple has a magnificent view of the forests and mountain which surrounds it.
